During the first few months of school, third grade students at Cherry Creek learned how to keyboard the right way!  We focused on using the correct fingers for each key, and using proper keyboarding position.  Now we know how to type all of the letters in home row position, and we're getting pretty fast at it!  

The 6th graders had the privilege to travel to Springville Junior High and watch their production of "Thoroughly Modern Millie". It was a beautiful day for walking, the play was very well done and the students thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you to SJHS and the Knights for inviting us to be audience members for this special production. 

Students at Cherry Creek Elementary received awards for October in the categories of Scholarship, Citizenship and Special Recognition. We are proud of our students and their hard work, effort, courage and kindness they show each day at Cherry Creek.

Last week Mrs. Bergera's kindergarten had so much fun learning about their 5 senses. Everyday they would explore the world around them with a different sense.  They saw different colors, smelled delicious fruit, listened for nursery rhymes, felt different textures in their classroom, and finish the unit by using their sense of taste to describe things that were sweet, sour, salty, and bitter. What a SMART group of kids we have at Cherry Creek Elementary!! 

We had Museum on the Move come to our classrooms. We participated in hands on learning about Utah animals and animal adaptations.

The second graders in Mrs. Averyt's class were able to explore shapes and make tangrams for their fast finishers. Ask a second grader what their favorite tangram was.

The sixth graders have begun Super Speed Math to become Super Improvers! Students, working as partners, review addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions in a timed race against their own best score. Students verbally answer as many problems as they can while their partner carefully looks at each answer and gives them immediate feedback if they miss one. The correction is made and the student continues racing against the clock.

Our student council went to BYU for a leadership conference.  They learned what it takes to be a good leader on student council and how to be a friend to everyone.  The kids that went are: Hallie Endicott (president), Madeline Ungruen (V.P.), Paityn Braithwaite (publicity officer), Katie Johnson (Treasurer) and Mason Larsen (Secretary).

Safety Walk to School Day was Wednesday, October 10th.  Many students were able to walk to school with their parents!  Parents commented that they enjoyed exercising and spending time with their students on the way to school.  Students enjoyed being greeted by the Springville High Drill Team and receiving recognition stickers.  Thank you parents, students, and drill team members for making Safety Walk to School Day a success!
