Teacher of the Year

Submitted by sarah.sumsion on
We are so pleased to announce the Cherry Creek Teacher of the Year - Mrs. Chelsie Bergera! She was nominated by her fellow teachers. Mrs. Bergera is so deserving and works so hard. She has served as the team leader this year as well. Mrs. Smartt shared that when she and Ms. Gibb were hired one week before school started several years ago, Mrs. Bergera happily helped them, sharing any lessons or copies she had to help them get started off on the right foot. You can see how much she loves her students and how talented she is when she teaches. Mr.

Sixth Grade Science Fair

Submitted by sarah.sumsion on
The sixth graders and a select few fifth graders participated in the annual science fair on Friday, February 7. Students had been working on the scientific process in class and were able to apply those principles as they spent a month preparing for the fair. All students were able to choose their own topic, usually something of interest to them, do some research, and text their hypothesis. There was a great turn out of parents, family and fellow students at the walk through of the science fair.

100 Days of First Grade

Submitted by sarah.sumsion on
First grade celebrated the 100th day of school by doing a number of different things. We wrote about what we want to do before we are 100 years old. We created ten groups if ten and then drew them onto white t-shirts. We made 100 day hats and glasses and necklaces with 100 beads grouped into ten different colors. We did a number of different math and literacy games including a 100 count Hershey kiss hunt and writing about what we do if we had $100.  It was a fun day of counting to 100 and now we can say that we are 100 days smarter!!!
