2015 Science Fair

Submitted by lyndsee.brice on

Our annual science fair was held today where 6th graders and some invited 5th graders were able to demonstrate how they applied the scientific method to a unique problem or question. Students were judged by volunteers from BYU, our community and Questar. (Big thanks!!) Ten students' scores qualified them to advance to the district fair held later this month. The teachers were very impressed with the students' hard work and scientific thinking. Students from the ALC also demonstrated their scientific thinking with puzzle cubes.

Student Leadership Positions

Submitted by lyndsee.brice on

Students from the Lighthouse Committee met with Mr. Duncan to present the ideas the committee came up with for schoolwide leadership positions. They had great ideas! Everything from helping with lost and found items to being bully busters. We have a great group of Student Lighthouse members this year.

Student Lighthouse Team

Submitted by lyndsee.brice on

Here is the Cherry Creek Student Lighthouse Team in their first meeting. Students applied for these class representative positions or were nominated by their teachers. One student per class will come on a regular basis to discuss ways to improve the school. At their first meeting they learned what was expected of them, played a getting to know you game, made suggestion envelopes and were given an assignment to take back to their class to discuss. This fabulous group of students is mentored by Miss Hartman and Mrs. Sumsion.
