Red Ribbon Week BMX Assembly

Submitted by sarah.sumsion on

Students at Cherry Creek were able to watch amazing bike stunts from Rich & Skyler Wieber of Minnesota. The father and son pair performed incredible tricks and educated the students in bike safety and how to live an awesome, drug free life. Drew from Mrs. Baldwin's class got to demonstrate how to check your bike to make sure it's safe to ride. At the end of the assembly, Skyler Wieber jumped his bike over Mr. Duncan, Mrs. Nielson, and former Cherry Creek principal Mr. Balzotti. Kayla, also, from Mrs.

Home of the Brave

Cherry Creek Elementary held an assembly on November 12 to honor Veterans Day. The students were able to take part in a flag ceremony presented by the Springville American Legion.  The American Legion members each spoke briefly about where they served, their responsibilities and their love of country. Each veteran was also given a stack of thank you cards made by the students. Some of the 6th graders had this to say afterwards about the assembly:

Croc Claw Bingo Board Winners

Submitted by sarah.sumsion on

Cherry Creek students have been working hard all year to earn GOLD Croc Claws.  Once a claw has been earned then those students get to draw a number for the Golden Croc Club bingo board.  These students are the first lucky bingo winners and got to party with the principal during lunch.  They enjoyed pizza, breadsticks and games for an entire hour--congratulations to our winners! (Miranda Sparks, Conner Andreason, James Tripp, Ogden Riley, Oliver Unguren, Caleb Judd, Hailey Robertson, Brenton Smith, Amy Robertson, Emma Biesinger)

I Voted!

Submitted by sarah.sumsion on

It was Election Day at the school for not only parents and registered voters, but for 5th and 6th grade students who had "registered". A handout was given to each student with both sides of the major issues reported from scholastic.com's website (without a candidate's name attached). The students took these home, discussed them with their parents, then had the form signed and returned. This became their voter registration. Thanks to Mrs.

Haunted Halloween

Submitted by sarah.sumsion on

Cherry Creek's annual Halloween parade and carnival were a smashing success. Ghoulish goblins, whirling witches, super heroes and more. The carnival featured games of all sorts, prizes to be won, decorated soda bottles and treats for all the little monsters. The highlight of the celebration for many was the spook alley hosted by the Springville High Drill Team under the direction of Ali Minor and Kelsey Clements. Some students came out well scared and others ran back for a 2nd, 3rd and 4th time through.

Third Grade Fingers Fly

Submitted by sarah.sumsion on

During the first few months of school, third grade students at Cherry Creek learned how to keyboard the right way!  We focused on using the correct fingers for each key, and using proper keyboarding position.  Now we know how to type all of the letters in home row position, and we're getting pretty fast at it!

Sixth Grade Gets Modern

The 6th graders had the privilege to travel to Springville Junior High and watch their production of "Thoroughly Modern Millie". It was a beautiful day for walking, the play was very well done and the students thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you to SJHS and the Knights for inviting us to be audience members for this special production.
