Art Meets Literature

Submitted by jan.grotegut on

For Read Across America week, the Librarian and the Art Teacher collaborated to create an "art meets literature" art show.  The 1st-3rd graders used a Laurel Burch art style to create their own "Pete the Cat."  Fifth graders drew their own families in the style of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" and framed them with frames designed in a Faith Ringgold style. On your way to the book fair, walk down the 2nd grade hall and take a look at the art work.

Sambo Fogo Drum Assembly

Submitted by jan.grotegut on

This morning we had a fun assembly at Cherry Creek!  Sambo Fogo, a drum group, came and shared their talents with us. They talked about the different types of Brazilian. They also showed types of dances that go with the different types of music. Some students were invited onto the stage to dance along to the drums. What a fun way to learn about drums and music!

A Big Croc Thanks To Mrs. Jenkins & Mrs. Goff

Cherry Creek is sad to say Goodbye to Mrs. Jenkins and Mrs. Goff who both have worked at the school for many years.  Mrs. Jenkins served as our Take Home Librarian and will be retiring and enjoying time with a new grand baby. As an Instructional Aide, Mrs. Goff helped many of our students become better readers.  She will be moving to Arizona.  Best Wishes on your new adventures!
