United Way Day of Caring

Submitted by jan.grotegut on

Day of Caring is an annual day of service that takes place on the second Thursday of September. United Way invites organizations across the county to come together in completing various projects that benefit the community, with over 1,500 volunteers completing over 60 service projects. Volunteers from United Way and BYU came to Cherry Creek to repaint some fun playground activities like Mirror Me, Hopscotch and other colorful activities.  We were surprised to find out that one of the volunteers from BYU was a dad of one of our own Cherry Creek Crocs.  Thanks Mr. Walch!

We unveiled our 2 WIGS (Wildly Important Goals) at our Leadership Assembly on Monday. Our First WIG:  All students will earn 2 Croc Claws during the year.  A Croc Claw is given to a student when they exhibit living one of the Covey 7 Habits at school:  Be Proactive, Begin With the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand Then to Be Understood, Synergize, Sharpen the Saw and Find Your Voice.  Our 2nd WIG is for each student to earn a ticket each week for the Reading Carnival in the Spring.
