Submitted by mike.duncan on Wed, 09/12/2012 - 18:57

Students were able to practice expression and fluency as they prepared for a class readers theater presentation. Students worked hard in small groups so that when the day arrived they would be prepared to present. We enjoyed listening to each group as they performed their varied readers theater.

Mr. Duncan, our fearless principal, worked with the 5th graders and our marvelous lunch ladies serving lunch to the Cherry Creek Crocs. He greeted each one with a smile and made sure the students selected a fruit or vegetable with their meal. Thanks for helping us be healthy!

6th Graders Work for Mr. Wonka

Submitted by mike.duncan on Wed, 09/05/2012 - 18:24

The sixth graders went to work for Mr. Wonka the first week of school packaging caramels. They followed Mr. Wonka's #1 Rule: If you have 10 of something, you MUST package. Students grouped caramels into long boxes, flats, cartons and so forth until all the caramels were packaged and ready to ship. They learned about place value, addition and subtraction when "orders" were changed. They were tempted to eat them, but resisted!

NED Show WOWS Students at Cherry Creek

Submitted by mike.duncan on Wed, 09/05/2012 - 16:07

Cherry Creek students were treated to the NED Show assembly on Tuesday, September 4.  Students learned how to become a champion in school and in life.  NED stands for--Never give up, Encourage others, Do your best!  As part of the message, presenter Leah Alford, used yo-yo tricks to amaze the students.  Sales for yo-yo's were through the roof following the assembly.  Students were allowed to use their yo-yo's in the NED Zone on the playground!
