Submitted by lyndsee.brice on
We love math time here in Mrs. Smartt's Kindergarten class! All of us built numbers with our linking cubes. We also had so much fun at our 100th day party! The students brought in their 100 collection, we made hats with 100 pictures, we built 100 Legos, blocks, etc., and we even created a 100 chart with goodies!

We had a great time today celebrating the 100th day of Kindergarten!! We read stories, made awesome hats, went on a number hunt, wrote about our 100 wishes, exercised 100 times, and even got to count 100 treats. I have loved these first 100 days of school so far!!

Students presented their projects 3 times to guest judges and were able to showcase their projects for parents as well as the student body. Ten students were awarded medals and will be advancing to the district science fair. Congratulations students!

Perfect Attendance- Term 2

Submitted by lyndsee.brice on

Wow, can you believe we are already in Term 3? Here are a few pictures of the students enjoying donuts and hot choloate with candy canes, marshmellows, and whipped cream! Something cool about this perfect attendance party, and different from the previous ones, is that for term 2, we also kept track of the students who were checked out early from school. So the student that earned this reward were at school ALL day and EVERY day in term 2! WOW! Congratulations students!

Math Night 2016

Submitted by lyndsee.brice on

On Thursday, January 21, Cherry Creek teachers and administrators hosted a Parent Math Night. The following ideas were addressed. Why is math taught differently than when I was in school?  What is the benefit of teaching the math concept along with the procedure? What resources are available for parents to understand the current methods of instruction and be able to help their children out with homework?  Breakout sessions were held to focus on different grade levels. Families that attended were able to take home a math game.
