Veterans Day Visits, Assembly and Veteran Victory Lap

Submitted by jan.grotegut on

Today was a special day at Cherry Creek:  Veteran’s Day Celebration.  Cherry Creek Students invited their favorite Veterans to visit and share their military experiences.  Some came to specific classes and some came to the assembly.  The students sang a song to honor and thank the Veterans.  There was a question and answer session and some of the students even modeled military attire.  The day ended with a Veteran Victory Lap to thank and honor these wonderful men.

Croc Cash: Brandon Low Cashes In for the Principal’s Chair for a Day

Submitted by jan.grotegut on

Cherry Creek has interesting ways to reward and recognize students good choices and good behavior.  One of the ways students are rewarded is by receiving/earning Croc Cash.  Recently, Brandon Low cashed in Croc Cash for the privilege of using Mrs. Darrington’s big, comfy chair for the day.  What are you saving your Croc Cash for?

Native American Heritage Assembly

Submitted by jan.grotegut on

November is Native American Heritage Month.  Mrs. Shoshana Begay, from Nebo District American Indian Education, brought her family and friends to teach Cherry Creek Crocs about different aspects of the Native American heritage. We listened to a Navajo lullaby, watched a jingle dance and a basket dance.  We were taught about symbolism through a hoop dance and enjoyed the beautiful sounds of the Indian Flute.  One of our very own Cherry Creek Crocs, Nicholas Yazzie, shared his talents in the Feather Fancy Dance.
