On Friday, to culminate our unit on community helpers, the first graders got to spend some time listening to local firefighter Matt Johnson who volunteers for the Springville City Fire Department and works for the Salt Lake City Fire Department. He talked to the students about what he does as a firefighter in the community and how important it was for him to go to school to be able to become a firefighter. He also talked to them about fire safety, what to do in an emergency, and gave them coloring books to take home and talk about with their families! They loved it!! Thanks, Matt!!
