The Leader in Me is a school wide transformation model that acts like the operating system of a computer — it improves performance of all other programs. Leader in Me is based on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Children take to these habits like fish to water and in no time at all these habits become part of their vernacular and every day functioning system. From pre-school through 6th the kids at Cherry Creek Elementary understand these habits and apply them continually in many surprising ways.

These habits are:

• Habit 4: Think Win-Win

• Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood

The Leader in Me produces incredible results such as higher academic achievement, fewer discipline problems, and increased engagement among teachers and parents. Better yet, The Leader in Me equips students with the self-confidence and skills they need to achieve in the 21st century economy.

Our school mission statement is We Lead. We Learn. We Inspire. I Am Important! As the 7 Habits become the culture of our school, the teachers, support staff and especially our students are more able to face everyday challenges and not only survive, but thrive.

Our students are developing the self confidence and leadership skills to step forward with enthusiasm and lead through discussion, ideas and unique projects. That spark of divine ingenuity, inherent in children, is fanned to a full flame through the 7 Habits. These kids believe they CAN and they DO thanks to the concepts and culture of Leader In ME.
