We Lead: Leadership Lessons with Mr. Andersen

Submitted by janelle.barrett on

Our incredible school counselor, Troy Andersen, spends time with each class to reinforce the 7 Habits. In recent months, students have helped create artwork showing ways that they live the habits, that Mr. Andersen then posts around the school. This way, the kids can have a personal reminder of ways to be their best selves. We're so grateful for Mr. Andersen and the time he takes to talk with our students and build a positive culture at our school!

We Lead: Mrs. Crowley Lives Habit 2

Submitted by janelle.barrett on

This is Mrs. Crowley beginning with the end in mind! Even though she is done teaching at Cherry Creek after this year, she is staying up late some nights to complete her license upgrade requirements. This way, if she decides to teach again after her husband completes his master's degree, she will already have her Level II license ready to go!

Talent Shows, Track Meets, and Field Trips, Oh My!

Submitted by janelle.barrett on

There's so many great things going on this time of year, that it's hard to keep up with all the fun! We are grateful for the beautiful weather that helps our activities go smoothly.

This past week, many grade levels had talent shows. Aiyana Sherman in 6th grade shared her Native American heritage with a shawl dance! Fourth graders took a field trip to Utah Lake to learn about wetlands, fish, and mosquitos (yuck)! Fifth grade competed in a track meet, and many of our Cherry Creek crocs placed in their events.

We Learn: Kindergarten Plays With Motion

Submitted by janelle.barrett on

Last week, Discovery Gateway Children's Museum brought their Potential Energy program to the kindergarten students and taught them about force and motion. The students had fun learning about push and pull with a couple different hands-on experiments. By synergizing and working as a team, they were able to play tug-of-war, move a balloon without touching it, and make their hover crafts move in a perfect circle.
