Our first awards assembly of the year honored students from each class. The Scholarship Award went to those who worked very hard to complete all their assignments and achieve good grades. The Citizenship Award recognized students who were respectful and kind to those around them. Many students also received the Special Recognition Award from their teachers for having outstanding character qualities. Congratulations to all the award recipients!

Shiver Me Timbers-Our Teachers are Pirates!

Submitted by mike.duncan on

Ahoy Mateys!  On Wednesday, September 19th the third grade students came to school with a surprise.  Their teachers turned into pirates!  We celebrated International Talk Like a Pirate Day.  We enjoyed playing treasure ship math, battleship with spelling, and even had Captain Duncan (Mr. Duncan) come share a story with us about pirates.  Arrrrrg!  We missed Mrs. Wimmer but were grateful the substitute was willing to join in the fun.  We all had a wonderful time.

Special Flag Raising Ceremony Honors Constitution Day

Submitted by mike.duncan on

Constitution Day was honored and remembered at Cherry Creek Elementary September 17 by a special flag raising ceremony presented by military cadets. The faculty, staff and students gathered around the flagpole. While the flag was being raised, The Star Spangled Banner was broadcast and the 4th graders signed the words to the song under the direction of Mrs. Smallcomb, who later taught each class the sign language during music.  Red balloons were released by the student council commemorating this significant day in history.
