The 2nd graders and 6th graders in Ms. Baldwin and Mrs. Sumsion's class met up for buddy reading. All the students were excited about meeting a new friend in a different grade. The 6th graders reported they were impressed by the 2nd graders reading! This was a great way to inject the sometimes-end-of-year duldrums with a fresh idea and new experiences. The students had a wide selection of books to choose from, compliments of the school library and the classroom library.

The April Awards Assembly was crashed when the sixth graders performed a flash mob to the song, "Final Countdown". It was a surprise to the school and the students danced fantastically! Cherry Creek Elementary is moving ahead into the 21st century with 12 new Chromebooks for the 5th grade.  That is 4 of them for each classroom.  5th grade is the guinea pig for this new technology.  If everything works out more classrooms will be getting Chromebooks in the future.  These new Chromebooks will allow the teachers to develop more meaningful lesson plans integrating much more technology into the classroom.  This will also help keep the students interest.  Thank you Mr. Duncan for the Chromebooks.

On April 17th, Cherry Creek hosted Area PTA Meeting.  As part of the meeting, Mrs. Alderks' class performed the dance "Magic".  Mrs. Deardeuff also led the school choir in singing "Seize the Day" from Newsies.  Both groups did an amazing job.  Nancy Taylor was presented with the PTA Service Award which was well-deserved.  We love Mrs.

The sixth graders had their final Hershey Track experience. The students performed excellently, enjoyed chilly, but beautiful weather, and placed in multiple categories. Congratulations to all the participants and victors!
