Scooter Tricks at Safety Week

Submitted by sarah.sumsion on
Health and Safety Week at Cherry Creek was a great success. We had the Fullmers from Legions Custom Skate Shop teach students about scooter, skateboarding and bike safety, especially wearing helmets!! Travis, another guest, demonstrated incredibly awesome tricks he can do on his scooter, from wheelies to jumping a cone to a 360 as well as a bunny hop, and the crowd favorite, an intel flip, or as Austin Mortensen calls it, a Super Loopie Doopie.

Third Grade Tulip Project

Submitted by sarah.sumsion on
The third grade had an amazing opportunity of planting tulips on the west side of Cherry Creek. Friends from Thanksgiving Point donated the bulbs to beautify our school. They let us observe and dissect tulip bulbs while explaining the anatomy of each bulb. We will continue to make observations about our tulips as they grow throughout the school year. Come April and May, our red tulips will bloom! A big thank you to Thanksgiving Point.

Third Grade Field Trip to Springville Library

Submitted by sarah.sumsion on
The 3rd grade classes had an opportunity of visiting the Springville Library. Mrs. Moon taught us how to get library cards and reminded us of all the things we can check out: not just books. We had a behind the scenes tour of the Snake: the library sorting system. We appreciate having such a wonderful resource in our community.

Recognizing Mr. Talbot

Submitted by sarah.sumsion on
Today was National Custodians Day, so it's only fitting we recognize our faithful, hardworking, friendly head-custodian Mr. Talbot. Mr. Talbot has worked at Cherry Creek since it first became a school and even worked in the building when it was the Springville Middle School. He is from Benjamin and enjoys hunting, fishing and motorcycling. If you come early enough you might catch him ride up to work on his bike (motorbike that is). Mr. Talbot jokes that his favorite thing about his job is he has 830 kids he can tease all day.

Top Crocs and Students of the Month

Submitted by sarah.sumsion on
Congratulations to our Students of the Month (a teacher-nominated student from each class). We also introduce a new award given only by our principal, Mr. Duncan. It is called the Top Croc. These top students are selected based on notable accomplishments or special contributions. One student per grade is selected.
