Cherry Creek Crocs ended the day with an assembly featuring Cultures of the World.  Cami Estrada & Kellon Sines, from the Lighthouse Team, highlighted different parts of the world where some of Cherry Creek’s student are from.  They shared information about ethnic foods, holidays, music, language, sports, and more interesting facts.  Mrs. Deardeuff shared her love for Scottish Bagpipe music with the Garden Valley Pipe Band.  A Big Croc shout out to Vera Hamilton and Robert Baxter for joining Mrs. Deardeuff.

Today we kicked off Culture week at Cherry Creek.  Students were invited to wear a hat or outfit from their heritage.  Many students wore outfits from their native country. Thanks for showing us some of the different ways people around the world dress.  Tomorrow is the Culture of America.  Show your pride by wearing Red, White & Blue.

Just a reminder that there is no school on Monday because of the Labor Day holiday.  See you on Tuesday, September 5th!

The 5th Graders in Mrs. Youngs’ class learned engineering skills by testing their ability to build a large tower. The students built these to introduce STEM skills and connected this to the Jeddah tower that is going to try to break the record of the highest building in the world. They had to develop and use models and construct explanations or arguments from evidence to erect their tower.  They will also discuss engineering failures from around the world and will apply the knowledge they learned to compare to their towers… what could they have done differently?

Wednesday was the First Day of Kindergarten!  Going to school and learning new things are fun!  The Kinders made new friends, played on the playground, ate lunch at school and learned so many new things on their first day.  

Preschool and Kindergarten Open house is this Tuesday, August, 22nd. The 3 Year Old class will come at 9:15-10:15.  The 4 Year Old Am class will come at 10:30-11:30.  And the 4 Year Old PM class will Come at Noon to 1:30. All Kindergarten classes will come from 3:30 to 4:30.  Come meet your teacher and see your classroom.

We are thrilled to announce our Student Lighthouse Leaders for 23-24.   All Cherry Creek students have the opportunity to apply for student leadership jobs.  They are learning about the different jobs in leadership class over the next few weeks and applications will be due on Sept. 1st.

The red carpet was rolled out to welcome back students and parents for the First Day of School!  Music, balloons and cowbells added to the smiling faces, High 5’s and laughter made it a fun way to start off the morning.  Our Cherry Creek Crocs are going to Rock this new school year!

Wednesday, August 16th will be our First Day of School for Grades 1-5.  Parents and Students come walk the Red Carpet from 8:45 to 9:10.  School starts at 9:15.  See you Wednesday morning!
