Welcome Message from Mrs. Darrington.....

Greetings FELLOW Crocs!  My name is Amy Darrington and I was recently appointed as the new principal at Cherry Creek.  This new assignment will officially begin in July.   I am thrilled for the opportunity and am looking forward to getting to know you and your children better.

By way of introduction, I grew up in Salem and graduated from Spanish Fork High School.  I moved all the way to Provo to attend BYU where I met my husband, got married, and moved back to Spanish Fork.  I continued to attend BYU until I graduated with a degree in Special Education, and then I stayed home for several years to raise our little family.  When my youngest was in kindergarten, I felt a yearning to return to education.

I began teaching special education and taught for 8 years at Canyon Elementary and East Meadows.  I then returned to school and received my Master of Education and Administration from SUU.  I spent a year at Park Elementary teaching and acting as an administrative intern during this time.  It was at Park that I learned and began to love The Leader In Me program.  After that intern year, I became the Title One Coordinator at Rees Elementary where I have been for the past 3 years.  I am very excited to begin a new adventure as a Cherry Creek Croc.

My husband Max and I will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary this year.  Max is an Arborist at BYU, so he knows a thing or two about trees.  We have been blessed with 4 delightful children; Ali (23), Sarah (22), Sam (19) and Kate (16).  We have lived in Spanish Fork our entire married lives and all of our children have attended SFHS.  Go DONS!  We love to camp, hike, travel, play games, and just spend time together.  In addition to spending time with my family, I enjoy golfing, shopping, reading, and decorating.

Cherry Creek has a wonderful reputation of academic excellence and unity, and I am so excited to be able to join forces with the amazing staff to continue this achievement.  I am impressed with the many exciting things already in place such as Leader in Me, reading intervention programs, and literacy collaboration.  I am committed to doing the best job I can do, and appreciate the opportunity.

I look forward to meeting all of our Cherry Creek Croc families and creating many memories in the coming years.
