Nebo School District Wellness Policy

Submitted by lyndsee.brice on

Here is a reminder of our school district's wellness policy:

Parents, teachers, and schools are encouraged to use non food items for parties, celebrations, and rewards.  Foods made available to students on campus for purposes of class or school parties, celebrations, or rewards should feature healthy choices and emphasize nutrient density, fruits and vegetables, minimal fats and added sugars, and moderate portion sizes.

Family Night of Magic with Mike

Submitted by lyndsee.brice on

On September 21, Utah's award winning educational presenter and professional magician , Mike Hamilton came to Cherry Creek. It was an interactive evening for all family members. His presentation was full of amazing illusions and magic. He encouraged good habit choices like exercising, playing an instrument, and reading. To get good at these activities we must put the time in.

Butterfly Life Cycles

Submitted by lyndsee.brice on

This week Ms. B's 2nd grade class learned about animal life cycles. We
were so lucky to have Caitlyn the caterpillar in our classroom. We
watched Caitlyn change from a caterpillar into a butterfly through the
process of metamorphosis. We were excited that we could set her free
during animal life cycles week!

Submitted by lyndsee.brice on

In second grade, we did a "web of friendship" where students told other students 2 things about themselves. The students also had the opportunity to SYNERGIZE and help Mrs. Crowley cut out some lamination for the classroom. They are such great leader helpers!!!

Shapes Galore!

Submitted by lyndsee.brice on

For the past two weeks we have been learning all about squares, circles, triangles, rectangles, and hexagons.  Today we had fun using our imaginations to create shape pictures.  The students made castles, animals, people, trucks, and more during math instruction.  What amazing kids we have in Kindergarten!!

Sensory Details

Submitted by lyndsee.brice on

In Mrs. Gast's class we get a little crazy! Students have learned that sensory details are an important part of story telling. Hopefully they can use these visuals to help them remember to add sensory details to their writing. By the way, are they tasting rocks?! They are! It turns out that halite can be classified based on taste testing. (I wouldn't recommend going around tasting rocks though.) By the looks on their faces I don't think the halite tasted very good. Now they can write all about it with vivid sensory details!

Multiplication Strategies in 3rd

Submitted by lyndsee.brice on
Third-grade students were able to write on their desks to practice their multiplication strategies! Some of the strategies practiced were repeated addition, equal groups, making pictures, and arrays. Not only are students excited to start multiplication, but they also get a right on their desk while learning. Good luck third-graders!
